Starfade - A Realm Blender Novella
Starfade is a cyberpunk novella set in the Realm Blender universe. The book follows a hacker named Chiaki Nakayama, who lives on her own planet called Flade. Chiaki goes by the codename Nova, and is part of a team of hackers who live on a small secluded planet. Chiaki considers herself the most talented hacker in the universe, but only because her brother was murdered.
Chiaki never got over her brother's murder, and she's desperate to find his murderer so she can have some closure. All she needs is a new lead to present itself.
When a Galactic Alliance Commander shows up on Flade; Chiaki is soon forced into accepting a mission, or her whole team will face imprisonment. Chiaki is forced to accept the Commander's request, and unfortunately for her, she's also paired up with a mercenary who will prevent her from stealing data while on the mission.
Soon enough, Chiaki bites off more than she can chew, and she soon ends up finding the answers that she's been seeking all along.
Starfade is set during and after the events of Descendant of the Elders, but this novella can be enjoyed on its own if you just need a quick scifi / cyberpunk fix.
