A List of Black-owned Bookstores to Support in the USA

The Lit Bar Bronx NY

In honor of Black History Month in the United States of America, here’s a list black-owned bookstores across multiple States. If you reside in the same State or live close to one of these stores, be sure to visit and purchase some books during the pandemic (while being mindful of the rules).

We must help our local businesses survive during these times, and in order to preserve diversity in book publishing, we need these black-owned stores to survive.

If you’re worried about shopping during these times, many of these stores have online purchase options. Companies like Bookshop also help support these independent businesses, so head over to their website to see what you can do to support.

Nubian Bookstore is one of the respectable black-owned bookstores.
